MBA Success Stories: Karim
Updated: Feb 1
In this series I provide insight into the success stories of previous clients. Hopefully this will inspire other MBA applicants to emulate their success.
These reviews have been fully-verified by Poets & Quants who contacted applicants independently for their testimonials. Only names and identifying information has been adjusted for privacy.
Karim's Profile
Karim had a GMAT of 710 and 6 years of work experience at time of his MBA application. He had began his career in project management before transitioning to a second-tier consultancy. Having worked in the Middle East and in London he had international experience and big dreams.
Karim’s aim was to break into a big-name consulting firm. With connections to the UK London was his key focus but he had an open mind, as any serious applicant should.
So he applied to the UK schools: London Business School, Oxford University: Said Business School and Cambridge University: Judge Business School
Karim reached out to me originally to leverage my experience at Oxford. But given my experience helping other clients get admissions from LBS and Cambridge we tailored applications for each of these too.
Karim secured offers to all 3 top UK programs
One of my happiest experiences of my MBA admissions consulting career was helping Karim choose between these three world-renowned universities. What an incredible decision to have to make!
In the end, Karim chose LBS for its alumni network in consulting and its proximity to interviewers in those fields.
Post-MBA Karim successfully transitioned to one of the largest strategy consulting firms (think McKinsey, Bain, BCG, EY-Parthenon, Kearney, Oliver Wyman) supporting private equity firms with their M&A.
